20th Year of Pork Pie Open – Best Ever

D&M Logo SmallThe sun shone beautifully for the Pork Pie Open on Sunday sponsored for the 20th year by Dickinson and Morris. The 232 competitors enjoyed the competition and the course, complimenting it’s superb condition particularly the greens, fairways and tees. 150 of the players were visitors, many returning year after year to play in the Pork Pie. All competitors received a Dickinson and Morris Pork Pie to take home, or eat on the way round. The ladies section served Bacon Cobs and Coffee or Tea in the halfway house and raised £554 for Dove Cottage Hospice. Lady Captain, Karen Middleton’s Charity this year.

The better ball stableford competition was won by father and son team Mick and Sam Pollard having scored a tremendous 44 points one point better than runners up Club Vice Captain, Jack Inguanta and visitor Tony Meakin’s 43 points. In third place was Matt and Wayne Lippitt 42 points, 4th Mick Curtis and Dave Thornton 41 points on count back, 5th Gavin Baxter and Rob Smith 41 on count back, 6th N Gethins and J Owen 41, 7th Andy Kind and Gary Mitchell 40 points on count back, 8th , Eddie Cham and Gerry Stephens 40 on count back, 9th place Dougie Bryce and Mick Wilson 40 points, 10th Andy Westwood and Andy Pedlar, 39 points on count back, 11th D Betteridge and G Bielby 39 points, 12th Tim Mortimer and Dan Pollitt 38 on count back and 13th David and Michael Heappey with 38 on count back. Kieran Foster and Oliver Duley won the Best Gross prize of 69

Nearest the Pin results on all the par 3’s  5th,Kieran Foster, 7th, Oliver Duley, 14th Stephen Draisey, 16th Shaun Heathcote. Longest Drives on the 8th, Billy Kevan, and the 11th M Boddice.

The Clubhouse had been buzzing all day with a welcoming, friendly and fun atmosphere around the club.  Club Caterers Paul and Marie Lander and their team worked tirelessly all day serving up their delicious meals along with their regular Sunday Lunch.

The evening presentation was made by Dickinson and Morris Managing Director, Stephen Hallam and Club Captain Brendan Boyce. Stephen was delighted by the number of entries and the support received from the members and staff of the club and looked forward to a continuing association with the Club.
