On 6th July, MMGC members had the opportunity to go back in time and play the golf course as it was up to 1990 as a 9 hole course. Many thanks must go to President Dougie Bryce, whose hard work produced a course planner which showed the course as near as possible to as it was all those years ago. With absolutely excellent conditions, 51 golfers comprisi
ng of both Ladies and Gents took the opportunity to play and made up the 13 teams playing in a Texas scramble format. The course was closed for golfers from 1 o’clock to enable the competition to go ahead in the 9 back in time format, where players had to drive from different temporary tees. The winning team on the day was the Lady Captain, Sandie Normanton, Paul Hudson, Anne Evans and Ian Parkes. The golf was followed by a BBQ and prize giving by the Club Captain Glenn Price. As a result of the success of the event, it was agreed to hold a similar one in the near future.
