A busy Wednesday for the men at Humberstone and Forest Hill

Gents County Foursomes – Round 1 – vs Humberstone GC

The game teed off at 5 pm on a well manicured course in a slight wind to start, which later increased and resulted a big drop in temperature. The Melton Golf Club pairings of Gerry Stephens with Phil Millward and Billy Kevan with Dr John Harvey found it quite a contest against the formidable pairings of Humberstone Golf Club on their home ground.

It was nip and tuck all the way to the 16th for Phil and Gerry, where they had the advantage to win the hole and go just 1 down, when the Humberstone player sank a 25 yard putt to half the hole and went on to win the 17th and 18th and the match 3 up.

It was a similar picture for the pairing of Bill and John who initially went 6 down on the front nine, but fought back to win back 3 holes. However, fortune was not on their side, they were unable to reduce the deficit and also finished 3 down.

B Team v Forest Hill
It was a close match between MMGC B team and Forest Hill. Under quite windy conditions that made club selection difficult, Forest Hill came out on top 3 points to 2. The winning pairs were: Richard Grieve and Rob Allen 6 and 5, Haydn Snow and Brian Haines 4 and 2.
