Belton Woods triumph in Ladies’ Open Am-Am

Winners from Belton Woods with Lady Captain Nancy Denny

On Friday 21st June, the longest day of the year, 80 ladies took part in the Ladies’ Open Am-Am at Melton Mowbray GC.  The weather was finally settled and kind and the course had been prepared to perfection.  The only downside of the recent wet weather is that the rough is now lush and best avoided at all costs!  However, the greens were very receptive and running true, making sinking your putts a joy.

The format was a fourball better ball Stableford off 90% handicap with 2 scores to count from each team.  In first place with a creditable 78 points were Jean Hallett, Liz Isles, Yvonne Walker and Hnin Shein all from Belton Woods.  In second place with 73 points ocb were Bettyne Norton, Dee Hughes, Pat Barnes and Sandie Hudson of MMGC.

In third place, also with 73 points were Janet Bentley of MMGC with Jane O’Reilly, Yvonne Bashford and Jackie Scott from Belton Park.
