BELVOIR BREWERY SPONSORS SUMMER OPEN

In it’s 20th year of production Belvoir Brewery sponsored the Senior Summer Open here at Melton Mowbray Golf Club the beginning , we hope, of a long association . The Club would like to thank Colin Brown and his Company for their generosity. All the players enjoyed their bottle of Melton Red Beer Kindly donated by the Brewery and the Hampers made lovely prizes. We would like to congratulate the Brewery celebrating it’s 20th year and wish it every success for  future years to come.

The Open was a superb day, but with overcast weather, however nobody got wet! The course was in excellent condition with many compliments from visiting players especially about the greens. The scoring was very close with only six points between first and 7th places. Count back decided many of the prize winners.

Richard Haines (Melton) & Greg Ewart (Stoke Rochford) returned with 44 points winning by 2 from Brian Street and John Waldron (Melton) 42 on count back from third placed Terry Brown (Melton) and John Webb (Lingdale) also 42. In fourth place were G Coulthard and J Marshall (Rugby)  39 points on count back from 5th Steve Tagg and Dave Moss (Melton). Trevor Watts and Paul Robbins of Lakeside Lodge came 6th with 39  and 7th were T Jones and J Bush of Bulwell Forest with 38 points on countback. Over 70’s Longest drive Greg Ewart (Stoke Rochford) and nearest the Pin  T Jones (Ruddington Grange). Under 70’s Longest Drive; Neil Greasley (Ormonde Park) and Nearest the pin Chris Saunders (Rushden).  Many of the players enjoyed the delicious food served by Paul and Marie Lander at the Golf Inn  and  Club Captain, Brendan Boyce presented the prizes afterwards.
