Twenty ladies journeyed to Sleaford on a dry but chilly day. Lady Captain, Sandie Normanton, organised 6 groups of 3 and a 2 ball with a ghost player. She welcomed all players and provided refreshments to take onto the course. The format was a 3ball am-am with 2 best scores on each hole off full handicap and included a nearest the pin on the 5th hole and a longest drive on the 16th. There was no placing on the fairways but we did get some run on the ball especially on the few holes where the wind was with us. However, the wind seemed to be against us on many more holes than with us making long holes even longer and scoring tough. We all had a really lovely day rounded up with a lovely meal and prize presentation.
The longest drive was won by Sandie and nearest the pin was Joan Allen.
In reverse order, in 3rd place were Avis Webb, Jeanette Holland and Barbara Hamston with 60 points, Sandie Normanton, Dee Adams and the ghost player (‘Drina Terzza) were 2nd with 62 points and the winners on countback were Denise Waldron, Margaret Smale and Margaret Samways also with 62 points.
Sandie congratulated and donated her longest drive prize to Margaret Smale who birdied the very tricky 12th hole. It’s a short par 3 only 117 yards but the tee shot is over some very high trees with no real leeway between tee or green and no real alternative route. She then sunk a very long putt to birdie the hole. A great day which was enjoyed by all.
