On Monday 11th June, the annual Triella between Melton Mowbray, Humberstone and Whetstone C Teams took place at Melton Mowbray Golf Club. On a very warm afternoon, the course was in superb condition and was commented on by both visiting captains as being one of the best courses in Leicestershire that they have played on this season.
The format for the Triella is 8 players from each side competing in a 3 ball Stableford competition. The best 6 scores from 8 are to count and combined, and the best score wins the Triangular Trophy. This was won by Whetstone last year. All of the Melton players put in fine performances and all the 6 to count scored over 30 points with Team Captain Adrian Green and Nigel Blunt getting 36 and 37.
The Melton Team were Team Captain Adrian Green, Club Captain Glenn Price, Don Benzie, Mark Lewis, Dave McKain, Andy Wade, Nigel Blunt and James Shaw.
The results were as follows: Whetstone 184 points Humberstone 190 points Melton Mowbray 196 points and winners of the trophy for 2018.
