After last week’s superb win versus Belton Park, Melton were up for the challenge this week at home to Kibworth. Following a brunch to start off proceedings, a very good spirited match was played in strong winds. The opening pair of Team Captain Adrian Green and Club Captain Glenn Price had a very close game, which ebbed and flowed one way then the other. However, Kibworth had a run on holes 14 and 15 to go 2 up with only 3 to play. Melton’s reply was a long putt by Green on the 16th for a birdie and a win. Price then earned them a half by some very good approach work to the 18th green. Brendon Boyce and Dave McKain had a tight match but won the last 3 holes to finish with 2 up. Nigel Blunt and Ade Stokes put the opposition to the sword and finished with a magnificent 8 and 6 win. Vic Cooper and John Mair earned a very creditable half as did Dave Bailey and Andy Pedlar. The overall result was a 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 win for Melton.
