36 golfers from Melton Mowbray Golf Club travelled to Ladbrook Park to play in Gerry Stephen’s Captain’s Away Day at Ladbrook Park Golf Club near Solihull. The weather was overcast on arrival, but as they teed off the heavens opened and poured down until the last four-ball came off the course. The format was teams of four scoring Stableford points, with 2 scores to count on the par 4s, 3 to count on par 5s and all to count on par 3s. Despite the poor weather, it did not dampen the spirits of the golfers and they finished with an excellent meal followed by a prize presentation. A big thank you to Doug Woolley who organised the day’s scoring and team selection. It was a very successful day raising funds for the Captain’s Charity.
The winning four-ball was Mick Jordan, Mick Curtis , Club Professional Tony Westwood and John Rigby with an overall score of 92 points.
Nearest the pin Par 3 5th Don Benzie.
Nearest the pin 11th Par 4 in 2 was John Webb.
