As is customary the day began with a meet and greet drinks reception at the club house – followed by the traditional Captain’s drive-in, with all incoming captains finding the fairway (just about).
Following a successful two-years as Club Captain, Clive Watts and the 2024 Lady Captain, Gill Hoggan, were both on hand to pass the baton to incoming Lady Captain; Jackie Fisher, Junior Captain; Nancy Shephard, Senior Captain; Neil Farish and New Melton Mowbray Golf Club Captain; Phil Curtis in a ceremony hosted by the Lady President; Liz Snow.
Melton Mowbray Golf Club celebrates its Centenary year in 2025 and following the customary speeches and Captain’s Jacket presentation, there was a fitting surprise to be unveiled in celebration of the club’s hundredth year.
Incoming Captain’s Jackie Fisher & Phil Curtis had the pleasure of unveiling new clubhouse plaques displaying all past and present captains with plenty of room for future captains. They also introduced a fantastic new timeline display, mapping the history of the club from when it was founded in 1925 to today.
To wrap up a memorable occasion, over a hundred guests including members, past captains, family & friends of the incoming captains all enjoyed a complimentary two course meal.
Look out for numerous fundraising events throughout 2025 where we hope to raise a significant sum to be re-invested into the club, allowing members and visitors can benefit for many years to come.
