Melton Mowbray Golf Club’s Stilton Classic Car Rally on Wednesday 20th June attracted a record turnout of classic cars, bikes and supercars with close to 80 vehicles on display.
Petrol heads of all ages arrived to view an eclectic mix of vehicles from the 30’s through to the 80’s including a magnificent American Peterbilt truck tractor unit which dwarfed everything else in the car park.
This was the 4th year the club has staged this event and it proved to be the most successful to date, despite the chilly evening breeze.
Every exhibitor received a complementary piece of delicious Stilton Cheese kindly provided by our event sponsor Colston Bassett & District Dairy Ltd, who have generously sponsored this gathering since its inception.
The BBQ proved very popular again and had sold out by 8.30pm (more burgers next year please) and the tombola prizes were snapped up with gusto.
Overall the event raised £170 for the Captains Charity “Different Strokes” and welcome revenue for the club through bar and BBQ sales.
A big thank you to everyone who made it happen, especially those who donated tombola prizes and second hand books and to all those who marshalled on the day.
Most of all a huge thank you to all you proud owners who came to display your “pride and joy” and to everyone who came to view and support us. See you all again next year!
