Wednesday 4th September saw a large turnout of players taking part in the Lady President’s day hosted by Julia Brown, the current Lady President. The course was recovering from course maintenance week, in particular some of the fairways where deep drainage has been laid, but the greens were in good condition and as always the rough too inviting for those stray balls. The format was a qualifying medal, so steady play was key and five ladies played below their handicaps resulting in a round of cuts in the section. Julia laid on some very welcome refreshments in the Halfway House including Pimms and Bruschetta which may or may not have helped the play!
To focus the mind, players had to count their total number of putts and winner with a minimum of 29 over the 18 holes was Cheryl Osborne.
Winners on the day were:
Division 1: Dee Hughes nett 70
Division 2: Elaine Howarth nett 70
9 hole competition: Yvette Joyce
Nearest the pin and Overall Winner: Sue Bennett nett 69
