The past two weeks have produced a purple patch of playing in the Ladies’ section with some handicaps coming tumbling down.
Round 1 of the President’s Putter was played on Wednesday 11th July with the Alternate Day played on Saturday 7th July. On the Saturday, Lady Captain Sandie Normanton returned a nett score of 70 reducing her handicap to 30. Elizabeth Snow followed on the Wednesday with a nett score of 69, giving her a handicap reduction of 2 shots, taking her handicap down to 28.
Round 2 of the competition was played on Wednesday 18th July with the Alternate Day on Saturday 14th July. The Saturday round was again won by Sandie Normanton with a nett 71, playing off her new handicap of 30 and reducing it again by another shot to 29.
The Wednesday round of the President’s Putter saw some more wonderful scores returned. Sue Hitchman posted a magnificent gross 79, nett 65 cutting her handicap by 2 shots to 12 exact. Sue’s gross score of 79 was only 6 shots above Standard Scratch of 73 and Sue was absolutely delighted to break 80 for the first time in her golfing career.
Another two very happy ladies were Janet Bentley and Elizabeth Clark both returning nett scores of 68 and dropping their handicaps by 2 shots to 32 and 25 respectively. It was a superb day’s golf all round.
Results are as follows:
Winner of the President’s Putter Round 1 was Elizabeth Snow with Sandie Normanton as runner-up.
Winner of the President’s Putter Round 2 was Sue Hitchman with her superb nett 65, and runner-up was Elizabeth Clark with a nett 68 ocb.
Overall winner of the President’s Putter combining both scores was Sandie Normanton with a total nett score of 141 and the runner-up was Elizabeth Snow with a total score of 142. This year’s President’s Putter must be one of the lowest scoring trophy competitions, certainly in recent years, in the Ladies’ section. Well done to all ladies who played.
In the past two weeks, we have seen 6 ladies cut a combined 12 shots off their handicaps. Huge congratulations to all 6 ladies: Janet Bentley (2), Elizabeth Clark (2), Sue Hitchman (2), Sandie Normanton (3), Elizabeth Snow (2), Sue Stimson (1) with special congratulations to Sue Hitchman for that magnificent gross 79. In addition, while completing a supplementary card on Wednesday 18th July, Maureen McCall also cut 4 shots from her handicap dropping from 41 to 37.
A purple patch indeed – keep it up ladies!
