Saturday 21st April saw 43 pairs take to the course to play in the very prestigious Gerry Davies Trophy, a pairs better-ball Stapleford competition, with all proceeds going direct to charity. The green staff and artisans had taken advantage of the sunnier weather and all had worked extremely hard under the guidance of the Head Green Keeper, Paul Robinson, to prepare the course to a very good standard ready for the competition. Tony Westwood, our resident professional, made sure that all the cards were prepared in advance and provided a warm welcome to all the golfers. Congratulations on a superb job behind the scenes in making sure that this event ran smoothly.
The early club leaders of Andy Westwood and Andy Pedlar returned with a very creditable 39 points. However, they would not be top of the leader board for long, as they were beaten into fifth place by some outstanding pairings producing some very good golf. The winning pairs were as follows:
