Having won through to the inaugural England Golf Club Team Championship Final by finishing 5th in Regional Qualifying at Woodhall Spa, the Melton Mowbray Golf Club team of Club Captain Brendan Boyce, Lady Captain Karen Middleton, Club President Owen Cook and Lady President Drina Terzza were excited to join 24 other teams in the National Final at Frilford Heath in Oxfordshire on Friday.
Playing off 3/4 Handicaps, the Melton team gave a very plucky display in nasty weather conditions on a challenging course to score 73 points (one ahead of Par) to finish ahead of all bar one of the other Woodhall qualifiers to claim a very respectable 9th position behind the eventual Champions, Shipley Golf Club from Yorkshire, who returned a remarkable 81 points.
