Mingles Season Winners Julia and Terry
Club President Owen Cook presented the prizes for the overall top six pairings of the Mingles which had been played for every Monday from the beginning of October until 16th March. Owen reported that this has been the most closely contested Mingles season since he started running it twelve years ago. With one point separating the top six pairs, and the first five places being decided by countbacks. As always the seasons top places were competed for with a friendly but fierce rivalry with any of the top six pairs needing a first or second place in the last round of the competition to have a clear win. The top six were:
1st Terry & Julia Brown 55 points , 2nd Tom Eadon & Elaine
Shelton 55 points ocb, 3rd Alan & Drina Terzza 55 points ocb, 4th Bob Luke & Chris Cook 55 points ocb, 5th Sam Wright & Maureen Stapleford 55 points and 6th Steve & Karen Middleton 54 points.
The end of season competition on Monday prior to the prize presentation and lunch was a Texas Scramble which was very closely contested with the top three teams scoring as follows:
1st Tom Eadon, Elaine Shelton, Sam Wright & Maureen Stapleford nett 43.5, 2nd Eddie Cham, Gay Cham, Ron Smith & Ann Evans nett 44.9, 3rd Steve Middleton, Karen Middleton, Geoff Clark & Liz Clark nett 46.8 ocb. The day ended with a superb lunch from Paul and Marie and the prize presentations. The Minglers also presented Owen and Chris with vouchers as a thank you for organizing the season, especially as Owen had been out of action, unable to play and Chris had borrowed Bob Luke to play with.
