Melton Seniors took the short drive to Rearsby to play Beedles Lake on Tuesday 25 March 2025.
The match started in light drizzle which soon faded to leave a mild day in good ground conditions, although transition from playing with mats at Melton to place and drop on terra firma caught a few of us out for a while.
With eight pairs from each team competing from a two tee start, everyone returned to the clubhouse within about an hour of the starters followed by a super roast lunch with ice cream and pavlova dessert with great hospitality and catering. The result was a 4 – 4 draw with wins for Neil Farish and David McKain (4 & 3), Paul Britton and Bob Purkis (5 & 3), Richard Faubert and Graham Jardine (3 & 2) and Ken Robson and Brian Wray (1 up). Special mentions go to David McKain and Bob Purkis for their excellent back nine performances and commiserations to Tom Smith who had to give away a total of 35 shots to his opposing pair.
We look forward to continuing our strong start at Norwood Park in April.
