On Thursday 9th August, MMGC Scratch travelled to Market Harborough GC to take on their scratch team, a formidable task as Harborough had not lost a match to date. The weather had completely changed from hot and humid to a cool and overcast evening, which eventually turned to quite heavy rain.
Mkt Harborough took full advantage of their home course and took the first 6 games and it was only Dale Radford winning 6 & 5 that stopped Melton having a whitewash. There were no excuses from Melton as the course was in excellent condition with the greens a test of golf with many undulations that needed to be read correctly in order to score well. Congratulations to Mkt Harborough who are promoted as champions.
Melton have to play Rutland Water next week in what could be another promotion decider.
