SENIORS
Tuesday 11 th October saw 33 players entered for the over 70s cup which was a
straightforward stableford competition.
A worthy winner on the day was Ray Stone with a fine 40 points despite having 2 blobs on
the front nine. Second was Eddie Cham with 36 points and third on countback with 35 points
was Steve Harrison.
On Monday 17 th, the team traveled to Sleaford for a rearranged match and came
away with a creditable win 4.5 to 3.5. Winning pairs were Richard Grieve and Ray Stone 4
and 3, Neil Farish and Clive Watts, making his debut for the Seniors, 1up, Julian Kisiel and
Dave Hirst 3 and 2, Bob Purkis and Joe Carrington 2 and 1. The last pair home was Richard
Haines and Brian Wray with a hard won half against a good pair.
On Tuesday 18 th, 24 competitors took part in the second, deciding round, of the
Tony Houghton competition which is a par/bogey format. The winner on the day with the
only positive score of 3 points was Nick Humphries followed in second place, on countback,
by Julian Kisiel on -1 and in third also on countback was Haydn Snow again with -1.
Overall winner of the competition was Robin Jones with a total score of -3 with
Haydn Snow second on -4.
