Popular Ladies’ Am-Am played out in glorious sunshine

Ullesthorpe Ladies with the starter, Dave Bentley

On Friday 22nd June, 80 ladies from clubs around the area came to Melton Mowbray Golf Club to take part in the popular Ladies’ Am-Am competition.  The format was Stableford with two scores to count from the teams of four who were all playing at 90% handicap. One of the highlights of the day was the delicious cakes and refreshments served at the Halfway House with donations encouraged for the Lady Captain’s charity, Dogs For Good.

There were a range of challenges throughout the competition: nearest the line on the first fairway was won by Pat Gladstone from Rushcliffe Golf Club and nearest the pin on the 14th was won by Annette O’Meara.

Scoring was high as the course was playing long and the ball was running very well.  The Greens Staff had been out to

In third place with a strong 80 points were Chris Cook, Alison Gatward, Liz Clark and Margaret Samways, all from MMGC.

In second place on countback with a very credible 84 points were Liz Snow, Nancy Denny, Jean Moulds and Barbara Hamston, also from MMGC.

Winners this year with 84 points were Angela Wright, Chris Savage, Ann Whibley and Tracey Watts who teamed up from different clubs in the area.
