On Saturday 22nd June, the rescheduled Ladies’ County Foursomes match between MMGC and Rothley Park Golf Club took place in much better weather conditions. Two teams from each club play a handicap foursomes format with the aggregate score from the two matches determining the outcome.
The course was again in peak condition and the bunkers, well visited during the round, have had a chance to dry out, making splashing out much easier. Lady President Julia Brown and ‘Drina Terzza were first out for Melton and they fought hard to keep the Rothley team within their sights, finishing the 18 holes just one down. Lady Captain Nancy Denny and Dee Hughes were out second and managed to pull away smartly before being pegged back to just one up at the turn. However, they held their nerve and, through some brave play around the greens, completed the match 4 up. Consequently, Melton Mowbray ladies were 3 up on aggregate and through to the quarter finals , where they will play Birstall GC at home on July 8th.
