After cancelling the first Race to Woodall Spa (RWS) competition due to inclement weather on April 14th, Sunday 22 April saw 45 competitors take part in the Stableford competition under the banner of the RWS. The RWS is a season long competition, that is an Order of Merit, integrating a season points system into the club’s gent’s individual competitions throughout the qualifying season.
The top 30 golfers in the RWS Order of Merit at the season’s end have the opportunity to qualify for a playoff/shootout at MMGC and then the top 5 will join the overall winner to battle it out eventually at Woodhall Spa on the much admired Hotchkin course. If you want to read more fully about this competition, then use the Race to Woodhall Spa tab at the top of the website’s home page, where you will find detailed information on the competition for 2018.
The winners of the Sunday Stableford competition were as follows:
1st Danny Raven 40 points on count back (He had won the Gerry Davies Trophy the day before!)
2nd JP O’Reilly 40 points
3rd Geoff Townsend 39 points on count back
4th Mark Lewis 39 points
5th Phil Gray 39 points (He had also won the Gerry Davies the day before!)
The “Twos” competition was won by John Harvey at the 7th, Kevin Robertson at 14th and Martin Hall at the 5th.
Look out for the information being posted up on the RWS Leaderboard to see where you stand as this exciting competition gets underway.
