In hot sunshine and on a well manicured course with some difficult pin positions set by the Captain, 140 golfers made up of both men and women teed off throughout the day in support of the Captain on his special day. The format of the day was a non qualifier individual Stableford competition. With an excellent prize table provided by the Captain and a half way house manned by the Captain’s and Vice Captain’s wives to provide sustenance for all the golfers on their way around the course, it was looking good for the Captain. There were prizes for best scores in each of the 3 categories: longest drives and nearest the pins for both men and women. There was also a putting and chipping competition set by the Club Professional Tony Westwood.
