On a gloriously sunny Tuesday, Melton GC Ladies and Senior Men contested the Jack Wildman Trophy on a course that was dry and running fast. This annual mixed competition is hosted by the Ladies’ Captain and Captain of the Senior Men’s section. The format is Greensomes with half combined handicap to count and scoring Stableford points off the men’s stroke index. Pairs are drawn from a hat, except for the Seniors’ and Ladies’ Captains who traditionally play together and lead the event off on the first tee.
Fourteen pairs took part and the winning pair of Seniors’ Captain Jerzy Schmidt and Lady Captain Sandie Normanton carded an excellent 43 points. Tom Eadon and Jackie Fisher were second with 41 on count back and Bob Luke and Nancy Denny were third, also with 41 and three birdies on their card.
Anne Creed, Jack Wildman’s daughter, also played in the competition and was on hand to present all the prizes and to congratulate the winners.
