The Seniors’ Captain, Dick Chapman, held his Christmas competition today and he was very well supported with 13 teams of four golfers, participating in a Texas scramble. With a redesigned course reduced to 14 holes, it would provide a challenging encounter for any golfer. With a dry morning and the sun shining, it was going to be a most enjoyable day. The players set off in good humour and laughter could be heard coming from across the fairways.
Some excellent scores were returned and the winning team of George Schmidt, John Bourne, Richard Faubert and Bill Fisher returned with a very creditable 53.4 points pushing the team of Vice Club Captain Gerry Stephens, Don Benzie, Ken Kirk and Pat Lee into 2nd with 53.7 points. Into third came Bill Hurrell, Vic Newham, Dave Moss and Al Terzza with 55.6 points, only 1 point in front of fourth team of Mike Hoggan, Bob Parinson, Joe Carrington and Bob Lemon.
