Seniors’ captains from Humberstone and Melton
Melton Golf Club Seniors’ first match of the season was played at home on Tuesday 27th March against Humberstone Heights. In damp and showery conditions, the course played long, but this did not prevent Melton coming out as convincing winners by 6.5 matches to 1.5 giving new captain Jerzy Schmidt a winning start.
Winning pairs were: Jerzy Schmidt and Brian Wray (1up), Bob Luke and Denis Dayman (2 and 1), Al Terzza and Glen Price (5 and 4), Dave Bentley and Gerry Stephens (6 and 5) Owen Cook and Jim McQuillan (7 and 5) and Haydn Snow and Joe Carrington (5 and 4) with Ken Longbottom and Ken Kirk securing the half point.
