The Seniors Men’s Team from Melton Mowbray Golf Club hosted the Seniors Men’s Team from Wollaton Park on Tuesday the 26th of July.
The home team played very well to secure a 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 win.
Victorious for Melton were the teams of Captain Richard Faubert and Ray Stone, Haydn Snow and Paul Britton, Don Benzie and Denis Dayman while Neil Farish and Richard Grieve halved their match.
The field for Tuesday’s Seniors Stableford recorded some pretty decent scores on a day more suited to golf than the previous Tuesday. The winner with a fine 39 points was David McKain followed in second by Colin Kitchen with 37 points and in third was David Bentley with 36 points.
17 players took part in the Seniors’ Matchday Stableford Competition on a very hot and fairly still day. Some decent scores were recorded with Bob Lemon winning the day with a fine 38 points. Ken Kirk took second place with 36 followed by Bill Fisher taking third on countback from David Gatward, both with 35 points.
The Seniors match against Radcliffe on Trent took place on a beautiful day and resulted in a close match won by the Melton team 4 1/2 to 3 1/2.

‘Bomber’ Wells, Mike Hoggan and John Squires, Denis Dayman and Bob Purkis, Don Benzie
and David Hirst. The team of David Bentley and Dick Chapman managed to tie in theIr match.
The next match will be at Toft on Wednesday the 17th of August.
