Two matches in quick succession saw mixed fortunes for Melton seniors.
On Friday 15th June, they suffered their first defeat of the season away at Ruddington Grange by a narrow 4.5 to 3.5 margin. Scoring pairs for Melton were Captain Jerzy Schmidt playing with Tom Eadon (8 and 7), Richard Grieve and Denis Dayman (1 up), Peter Rayers and Julian Kisiel (1 up) and John Squires playing with Ray Stone (halved).
Four days later ,on Tuesday 19th, Melton returned to winning ways with a solid 5-3 win at home to Stanton on the Wolds. Winning pairs for Melton were Haydn Snow and Ray Stone (1 up), Tom Eadon and Eddie Cham (4 and 3), Richard Haines and Denis Dayman (6 and 5), and Club Captain Glenn Price playing with Seniors Vice Captain Dick Chapman (7 and 5). Halved matches by Bob Purkis playing with Al Terzza and John Squires playing with Jim McQuillan completed the points tally.
