Thirty five golfers turned out to give their support to Melton Mowbray Golf Club Captain Glenn Price’s Away Day at Coxmoor Golf Club on Friday 1st June.
The format for the day was four ball better ball with one team assisted by a ghost player, As usual all the pre-match organisation of all teams and completion of the cards was all very professionally carried out by Doug Woolley.
With perfect sunny weather and a course fit for any competition, the outcome was a very close scoring event with only 10 points separating the first and last teams.
The winning teams in the prizes were as follows:
1st: Guy Rayson, Neil Parish, Tim Mortimer and Al Terzza with 108 points.
2nd: Phil Millward, Jack Iguanta, Adrian Green and Cliff Daulby with 107 points on count back.
3rd: John Harvey, Alan Newton, Eddie Cham and Don Bentley 107 points.
4th: Richard Grieve, Mark Pedge, Bob Luke and Richard Kendall 104 points.
Nearest the Pin on Par 3 7th was John Harvey. Nearest the Pin on Par 3 10th was Billy Kevan. Nearest the Pin on Par 3 15th was Jack Iguanta.
The Captain thanked everyone for supporting his day and gave special thanks to all at Comoro for their hospitality. £75 was raised in support of the Captain’s charity with fines given out by Vice Captain Gerry Stephens as Mr Fines for any misdemeanours by the players and everyone throwing coins for nearest the bottle of wine.
