The first players of the Mixed Open Better Ball, the Golf Club’s first Open Competition of the year started off in the heavy rain but by 11.00am the rain had cleared with sunshine and showers for the rest of the day and a couple of thunder claps! Many visitors complimented the condition of the course and remarked on the superb quality of the greens along with the excellent catering provided.
The Melton pair of Haydn and Liz Snow won with 39 points closely followed by second placed Surya and Terence Dickinson (Ashbourne Golf Club) with 38 points on count back from 3rd placed Ellen and Kevin Steel (Rushden GC) also 38points.4th place went to Lorna Morris and Jason Baldwin (Kilworth Springs) 36 points on count back.
John Parry (Chilwell Manor) won gents nearest the Pin on the par 3 7th and Melton member Fay Hutton won the ladies on the 14th hole. Club Caterer Paul and Marie Lander had a hectic day with all the open contestants enjoying a meal after their game along with a family Christening buffet in the Restaurant area.
