The Petfoods Trophy attracted 77 competitors in perfect weather on Saturday, with a course well manicured and in excellent condition. This would set the scene for some expected low scoring returns and they were certainly not disappointed. With the overall winner Matt Catton returning an excellent best gross of 72, winning on count back with a net 66. 2nd place and leader in the clubhouse for a long period was Jack Griffin also with net 66. 3rd place was Tony Robinson with a net 67.
Congratulations goes to Matt Catton who is now a category 1 player (0 – 5 handicap).
The Compton Cup attracted a smaller field of 29 golfers, but again the weather and course conditions certainly set the scene again for some low scoring. The overall winner was Charles Fitzgerald with the best gross of the competition of 91 and a net score of 68. 2nd place went to Darren Mackie who returned a net 71 and Simon Snow in 3rd place with a net 73.
The twos sweep of £98 for both competitions was shared by the following 13 golfers who scored a 2 on the par 3s.
Kris Owen, David Hurst, Guy Rayson, Matt Catton, John Harvey, Malcolm Farrow, Guy Fishwick, David Stroud, Steve Burton, Ian Townsend, Ray Catton, Shaun James and Harvey Green.
