At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the Gerry Davies Golf Competition due to be played on Saturday 31st March was postponed due to inclement weather. It’s that rain again!
The few who turned out to play their knockout matches endured a few holes, only to find that the wet weather had taken its toll and the course was not really playable. On returning to the Clubhouse to take advantage of the coffee and bacon rolls, twenty three of them were coerced by Club Professional Tony Westwood to take part in an indoor putting killer game with proceeds going to the Captain’s Charity. After numerous rounds (and extra coffee) Club Vice, Gerry Stephens, emerged victorious with Club Captain, Glenn Price, David Poolan and Steve Goddard coming close. No divots were taken out of the Clubhouse carpet and waterproofs could be packed away.
Let’s hope this poor weather now means we are in for a glorious summer instead.
