On Sunday 13th October 36 golfers from Melton Golf Club travelled to Chipping Norton to play at the Cotswold Golf Hotel and Spa.
The weather was not kind and, after a delayed start, a 9 hole competition was held. The winning team were Lady Captain Nancy Denny, Sue Bennet, Bill Fisher and Mike Hoggan with a very creditable 47 pts. Some golfers played a few more holes and it was during this period that Nancy Denny scored her first “Hole in One”.

The second day looked more promising as the 9 groups set out to play an 18 hole competition. However, it was short lived and the tail enders were met with more torrential rain. Despite the rain, the course held up quite well and the event was a very social occasion.
The winning team included Gill Hoggan, Margaret Smale, Charlie Chapman and Haydn Snow on count back with 69 pts from James Denny, Gordon Hughes and Liz Snow (a ghost player making up the fourth) who came second.
