On an overcast but brightening day, over 25 ladies played in the Lady President’s Day match either in the 18-hole or 9-hole competition and traditionally also counting putts. Margaret Smale, Lady President, greeted every group before teeing off and then offered a superb spread of cakes – and wicked drinks – at the Halfway House, before rounding off the day by hosting a delicious buffet lunch and prize presentation. All the ladies who played wished to thank her for a great day and thanks must also go to her daughter, Sarah, who helped with lots of the humping and dumping on the day!
Top of Division 1 was Penny Dodds ocb with Nancy Denny coming 2nd, both with a nett 75. Top of Division 2 was Fran Howkins with a nett 72 and Glynis Breward came 2nd with a nett 74. Winner of the 9-hole competition was Liz Clark and 2nd was Carol Solloway.
Nearest the pin was Nancy Denny in Div 1 and Fran Howkins in Div 2 and nearest the line on the 6th was Gill Hoggan.
The stand out player of the day was Jackie Ford who won the Lady President’s Salver with a nett 69 and also won the fewest putts competition – by one putt!
